MTCC Eastern Chapter CSR Activity with Hand-to-Hand, Pattaya

CSR5

MTCC Eastern Chapter had an amazing time raisin  g charity and making children’s lives better with Hand-to-Hand on the morning of 26 November 2016. Hand-to-Hand is an organization based in Pattaya, which recognises that human rights apply to all age groups. They seek to protect those who are marginalised regardless of their race, age or religion. They achieve this by providing services such as helping them acquire legal documentation and offering food, clothing and education.

The event was well attended by about 20 volunteers from MTCC member companies from Bangkok, Rayong and Chonburi, namely, Aapico Plastics, HICOM Automotive Plastics and Polymer Solutions. Together, we donated the following: THB 25,000 cash, 5 sets of used desktops, 500 kilograms of rice, 100 milk packs, old clothing, soft toys and snacks.

The main activity was to build a flower bed beside the road leading to the Hand-to-Hand building to beautify the surrounding area and also to teach children the responsibility of caring for the flowers.

We started at 10 a.m. with a short introduction and tour of the Hand-to-Hand premises by Ms. Margaret and Khun Pai (who are the founders), and their motivation in establishing this organisation.

From then on, we got our hands dirty and it was hard work all the way. We first put soil into the flower bed, then planted the flowers. However, the teamwork and camaraderie on display made the task at hand easier and everyone who came, put in an excellent shift. The children merrily joined in and had a lot of fun with us. Margaret bought yellow flowers and a special Hibiscus to symbolise Malaysian pride. Then we watered the flowers and ended the event by tucking into the lunch cooked by the children’s parents.
